Tiger Woods coming back to golf in two weeks?

February 3, 2010 |  1:26 pm

The Melbourne (Australia) Herald Sun, citing, well, nothing more concrete than "strengthening whispers," reported that Tiger Woods might return to tournament golf at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson on Feb. 17-21.

The Herald Sun could also have reported, just as accurately, that "really strengthening whispers" are that Woods won't play in Tucson.

FabforumWoods did return from his injury-induced hiatus from golf at the same tournament a year ago. It is interesting to note that Accenture was one of the first of Woods' major sponsors to drop the golfer after Woods' admission of multiple marital infidelities was reported.

The Arizona Daily Star reported that WGC-Accenture tournament officials have no information on Woods' possible participation.

Woods is the top-ranked player in the world. The tournament invites the top 64 ranked players in the world.

Second-ranked Phil Mickelson has said he was skipping the event to take a vacation with his family. The vacation had been postponed last year, Mickelson said, when his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Welcome back

Golf will be better with Tiger only if he returns with the same tenacity as he had played before the crash. I could not wait to see if that will be the case....

he wont come back, not in two weeks at least. i feel like tiger needs to take time to recoop from the family drama and then focus back on golf. we all have to remember this game we all love is as much mental as much physical. Tiger Woods is a billionare athlete, he will be fine for awhile without golf.

"Strengthening whispers." Please! This rates with the speculation as to whether or not Brett Favre retires for good. Lets just wait a week and see. If he shows, he shows. If not, so be it. Golf will go on.

What would be a better slap in the face of Accenture, then to play in their tournament and take their money that way.

I'm thinking he wouldn't be a great pick for the pick 4......

I don't think he's ready to come back but If I were him I would have been back by now already. Elin is gonna leave anyway so what the heck...keep playing golf that's what you do best !!! Has he even been hittin' the range or is that OB too ??

according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tiger's caddy (Steve Williams) says Tiger will not play at the Accenture Match Play event

TEDDIGGINS February 7, 2010
TIGER IS JOINING THE GROOVE DEBATE, HES TOTALLY AGAINST THE PING WEDGES, HE SAYS ELIN USED ONE ON HIM AND HE SPUN COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL.

TEDDIGGINS February 6, 2010
REMEMBER GUYS, TIGERS TRYING TO REBUILD HIS IMAGE, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE GOLF ANYMORE. TIGER PROBABLY WILL NOT PLAY THIS YEAR AT ALL. HE WILL PROBABLY COME BACK AT BAY HILL NEXT YEAR. THAT WILL GIVE HIM TIME TO DO ALL THE RIGHT THINGS TO MAKE EVERYTHING RIGHT IN THE PUBLIC AND SPONSORS EYES. HE PROBABLY WILL BE MORE CAREFUL IN THE FUTURE, I BELIEVE HE'S TO ARROGANT TO CHANGE BOTH ON AND OFF THE GOLF COURSE.
