Hole in One Club Have you ever hit a hole-in-one?

http://www.orlandogolfblogger.../ I found an article about a man who shot two in the same round, odds are 67 million to one... It got me wondering how many golfers have ever actually shot a hole in one? I've been within three feet, but never aced one. Check out the article and if you like it, feel free to digg it :) |

First hole-in-one I witnessed was ten years ago at San Jose Municipal Golf Course. It was mid-February and we were trying to get in the last couple of holes before it got totally dark. The 17th is a par 3 165 yards from the white tees. By the time we got there it was more than dusk. Had a 55 year old man in our group (four singles thrown together for the day). He played like he had more mileage than his actual age. So out comes his 3 wood and he takes a swing. My distance vision has always been exceptional, so I see the ball bounce and roll on the green and disappear at the cup. I told him, "I think you made a hole-in-one!" He wouldn't accept it. He was just sure we'd get up there and find his ball hiding behind the pin. But of course, it was in the hole! |

I have been playing golf since I was 12 years old but didn't really start playing often until my 20's. I am 34 now. I have hit many pins, had one hit 2 inches in front of the hole hit the pin two times going up before ended up 6 inches behind the hole on #8 at Eagle Dunes in Sorrento FL about 6 months ago. I finally got my first ever on Christmas Eve 2009! It was a very wind day in Daytona Beach Fl @ LPGA International. We had a group of 8 so I had three witnesses and 4 more who came running up after hearing me go nuts!!! Two holes before, #13 Par 4 on The Legends Course I hit the pin from 160 out but it hit so hard I never found. Had to take the walk of shame back down the fairway. My friends in the group behind me found the ball 20 yards right of the green! So we get to # 15 on Legends, 177 yard Par 3 with 20+ MPH winds from left to right, helping slighly. The hole plays uphill with a bunker on the left front and the pin was just over it left kind of towards the front. I nipped a 7 iron perfect. Dead straight maybe 10 feet right of the pin with the wind pusihng it. Couldn't see it land but I knew it should have been pretty good. I was just thinking I need a birdie in a bad way in the match I was playing!! I got up there and only saw one ball on but way deep. I was like not again!! Where did this one go!? My good friend Dan went to look in the cup just to be sure and said here it is!!! I said "No Way!!!" but the look in his eyes said it all!! I looked down and stairing right up at me was a Titeist Pro V # 2 with my mark on it!!! I went crazy threw my hat and was screaming and yelling!!! It was really hard to finish, matter of fact I blocked my next drive on the par 5 into the hazard!!! Good thing I won some money in my matches because drinks for 8 at LPGA isn't cheep!! I'll trade a few hundred dollar bar tab any day for another Ace!!! What a feeling, Christmas came 12 hrs early for me!!! |

Just got my first today!!! 17th hole, Hackberry Creek Country Club. 192 yards, pin cut back center. Wind coming right to left pretty strong. That's my favorite wind, because I play a cut, and I can hold it against the wind to keep the ball straight. Walking up to the tee, I noticed the way the wind was blowing and told my buddy Brad "This sets up perfect for me, I can get this close." Chose a 3 iron, and hit it exactly how I wanted. I feathered it up in the air with a little cut, the wind held it straight, and it never left the flag. One hop and IN!!!! My ball mark was just a foot in front of the hole. Not only did I get my first hole-in-one, I freakin' called the shot!!! How cool! |

Got my first hole in one last August at Oak Marr in Vienna, VA. Ball actually went over the flag and rolled back in. Pretty amazing feeling and what a thrill to have my name up on the wall in the clubhouse.

Yes, I have two. The first was on May 11, 2002 at the Don Shula Executive Par 3 course. It was on the 17th hole 120 yards with a sand wedge. It barely made it over the bunker and just simply rooled in. I have a medalion from Titleist to comemorate my accomplishment. The second happened a few years later, funny thing we were joking on the tee about how close we can come, would you believe it I was having a so-so day and then bang on the 7th hole in Granada Golf Course 133 yds with a PW, one bounce and in. By the way, one of the witness who was not playing was my dad. Anytime someone mentions to him about playing golf he tells them what he saw that day.

I've never hit a hole in one, but last week on a 210 yarder, my ball mark was a 1/2inch short of the cup. I was left with a 5-footer and had to settle for birdie. I wasn't aware people got swag for hitting a hole in one, does anyone no more about that? I can't even imagine actually getting a hole in one, but i wouldn't mind free stuff if I did.

I got a pewter bag tag from Titleist. I used a ProV1, wrote them a letter and they had it engraved and sent out to me. I was hoping for a box of ProV's instead, but the tag is pretty cool. |
