As much as I enjoy working on putting golf weekends together, I can tell you that if the regular Fall National Get Together for 2019 is not going to be in Myrtle Beach then others will need to step up and put it together. I’m not trying to sound selfish about it or having an “I’m taking my ball and going home” attitude about it so it shouldn’t be taken that way but Myrtle Beach was picked because it’s so simple, 100 courses within a 30 minute drive, countless housing options, eateries and entertainment and almost completely hands off for the organizer courtesy of all the planners for Myrtle Beach courses. This is just my opinion and I know I’m not alone with my preference of Myrtle Beach but I can only assume there would be some that would differ. I prefer simplicity and time with friends over collecting money, organizing a place to stay, being the go between, bill collector and general money-fronter for the “less-than-organized” ones of the group. Those things are not fun and only make for frustration.

I’m truly fine with whatever is decided by the group for the future but if it’s not Myrtle Beach, its wide variety of choices for golf, housing, cooler fall temperatures, restaurants and entertainment then I’ll be stepping aside from organizing future sites.

If it’s decided by the majority that it’s not going to be Myrtle Beach for the Fall of 2019 and you want to take on organizing somewhere else, then by all means have at it but be aware that >>>there are guys in the group that have been coming for several years that need SPECIFIC dates for the regular NGT in the Fall BEFORE January 15th so that they can get the time off from work.<<< So it needs to be put together before New Years in order for them to attend.

If nobody steps up to organize a different location themselves and have a firm plan in place by 1/15 then it's safe to assume that it will be Myrtle Beach for Fall 2019.

Yes Jaypet, you will be consulted…AGAIN!

It sounds like there are two options :

1.) Don organizes NGT in MB for 2019
2.) Someone else steps up and agrees to organize it

If #2 - someone needs to decide, probably by Dec1 that they are taking the reins for 2019.

I'd propose this for anyone who wants to do that :
Date *must* be solidified by 1/10/2019 for the consideration of the long-time member who must put in for vacation as early as possible.
Location *should* be decided on or around the same time to verify that flights are available and lodging can accommodate the group.
Possible courses should be identified by that time as well.

I'm with Don - I don't care either way so long as the long-time folks have notification on date and location by 1/10/19 and if #2 happens, take the bull by the horns and make it happen.

MB sounds easy and would be worth a go for '19.

Not just me organizing. I don't need more false claims of non-consultation again.

South Florida or Houston. That’s my vote.

Don can still organize it because I get tired of doing all that crap.

It was brought up before. I liked the idea, problem is there are only 2 courses (near Birmingham) with a total of 54 holes. Everything else is spread so far that you'd be travelling at least an hour or more to other courses. Flights to Birmingham for most are very limited, not direct and very pricey.

Etowah Valley stay and play package. I'll pick everyone up at the Asheville airport. No rental cars needed.

Stay & Play Packages | Etowah Valley Golf Club & Lodge

Just offering a less expensive option. Lots of golf, good food, no running around.

Cool! Can we go out in groups of 5 or 6 like the locals?

Lets go to Fredrick Maryland. Plenty of lodging, good food and the courses are awesome.

I know they'd be on the more expensive side, but I'm one to shoot for the stars, and I think Pebble Beach or Bandon Dunes would make everyone happy.

Pebble: "Our Fall & Winter Stay & Play Package includes:

Two nights at The Inn at Spanish Bay or The Lodge at Pebble Beach

Two rounds of golf. One round at Pebble Beach Golf Links, and one round at The Links at Spanish Bay, or one round at Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

$100 Resort Credit per package
A complimentary round at The Links at Spanish Bay when you book three nights
An opportunity to book a 3rd & 4th night at 20% off
Package starts at $2,295 for The Inn at Spanish Bay or $2,675 at The Lodge at Pebble Beach."

Verdict: ehhhhhh. Only two courses would be played since the Spyglass option is separate. I could always try to dig through my golf industry connections but I don't think I know anybody who knows somebody at one of the Monterrey Peninsula courses.

Bandon Dunes: Rather than copy/paste, I'll direct everyone to this article and let everyone form their own opinions. https://www.golfadvisor.com/articles/h..

Many states, many wonderful courses. Could be fun almost anywhere. But NOT in the peak of hurricane season. Duh!
